I met Dr. Blackburn to get a second opinion for my Dupuytren’s Contraction. I was surprised to hear that I had 3 options for treatment. 1. Needle aponeurotomy 2. Collagenase injections 3. Surgery My first doctor I visited told me my only option was surgery with a 2 month recovery! Dr. Blackburn explained my disease, the treatments and the recovery period. I decided to do the needle aponeurotomy. He did let me know it can return and it might not be 100% straight! I just had my one month follow up and am so happy I chose Dr. B... read more
De. Blackburn was thorough and professional. He explained my condition in terms that I could understand. He gave me my treatment options and helped me work through the decision making process. I had him give me a cordisone shot in my thumb.. he prepared me for the pain and helped me recover after the procedure. I also appreciate the extra time he took to discuss my back issues.
South Florida Orthopedic and Sports Medicine is an excellent facility. I have seen Dr. Monahan for my knee, and most recently Dr. Blackburn for issues with my hands. Dr Blackburn is very upfront and explained all possible options for the issues I have. Both doctors are very professional and take all the time needed to explain your issues and answer your questions.
