My whole family have been going to Akins Auto Repair for over 8 years and would never go anywhere else. This is a rare gem classic trustworthy expert mechanic shop. Whatever they charge you is worth every penny to drive away with peace of mind. This is the best shop in San Jose and probably the best in the Bay!
I am confused by this repair shop. Their sign says "foreign and domestic," and their website says "we do not work on 1996 and older." But when I requested a quote for a 2003 domestic vehicle they replied, "i do not work on those vehicles".
Over the many times I've brought numerous cars to Akins, I've never had any issue. There is always good communication, up front information you can trust to be true. They have helped with the 2004 Lexus IS300 and the 2008 GMC Acadia. Although I have not lived in the San Jose area for 5 years now, whenever I drive to the Bay Area to visit family I consider bringing my car here. They are that good!! This place is a scam! They gave a whole spiel about how they don’t scam people and charge a fair amount because they do good work. But they don’t! They way overcharge. $95 for synthetic blend oil change. I went to another place a year after to do another oil change and they told me there was oil spill in my engine area because this place didn’t screw in the filter cover well
OVERALL: Akin and his team are great in all regards. Car repair/maintenance, pricing fairness, customer service, timeliness of service, and even cleanliness of the shop. I was recommended by a friend to see him for my battery replacement and glad that I took her advice. This was my first time going to him and I may now be a lifelong customer.
