I went to get a fulani flip - shoulder length over for a business conference yesterday, I left with a style i didn't ask for, a cold and probably traction alopecia. and it cost $270 My stylist was a Cameroonian lady that was clearly there for the fun - she talked more than she braided - it took 5.5 hours to get this style done, AND she had a helper. It’s illegal to charge surcharges or transaction fees on a debit card. Before starting to get my hair done, I asked how much it’ll be my total and I was given my exact total. But when it came time to pay, the lady added $5 dollars on top of my whole total and when I asked why, she simply told me that it’s a transaction fee(surcharge). I told her that it’s illegal to add a surcharge charge on a debit card because debit card is considered as “cash” in the United States. What should have been a simple braiding appointment turned into one of the worst braiding experiences I have ever had. As someone who has been doing hair for nearly a decade, I understand the time, effort, and skill that goes into braiding.
