I love Afterglow Aerial Arts!!!! This studio is truly my happy place, and I have found such a lovely community with both students and coaches. Afterglow's environment offers a safe space for so many people in and around Portland (myself included). I came to the studio as an "unathletic" person and taking classes here helped me gain confidence in myself as a strong, flexible, and graceful aerialist and performer. I stopped by this studio a few times while in Portland and it was such a treat! Lovely people, both students and instructors, there's plants and artsy designs all around the studio and it's such a breath of fresh air. I accidentally came a little early and there's this cute and cozy waiting room inside with cubbies to put your things! Although I only went a few times this studio has me wanting to move to Portland. Incredibly unsafe practices. The owner will continue denying these claims, but please take note of how often the same issues are brought up in these reviews, ESPECIALLY if you're a parent. I have personally witnessed children under the age of 16 being left in charge of classes, both with other children and adults. A 15 year old girl was left alone to coach a class of adults and expected to lock up the building. Coaches are not vetted in any measurable way, and while there are a select few wonderful, competent teachers the re... read more
