Family Fun Day, I will not miss the next one coming this summer, it was spectacular!
A wonderful space for the community to be in harmony.
I had a great time at the event. The entertainment was great and very well planned. All seemed to enjoy the show. Perhaps more events such as that should be held there.
I believe the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage is "the missing puzzle piece" not only to the African American but also, to other individual's of races. This center shows history of not just Louisville or Kentucky but the history of all significant events that played such a huge roles, directions and shifts in the social constructs of the US as a whole overtime. Was an honor to finally see the rich history laid out in such a simple and creative manignitude.
The first night was cocktails and a jazz trio combined with art exhibits of: photographs of Muhammad Ali (Louisville's son) along with a banner of the Legends of African American jockeys ( Louisville is horse country as you know...world renown Kentucky Derby...first led of the Triple Crown) a phenomenal exhibit by the "Bag Lady". Food was good. Around nice evening.
I have visited the Centre on behalf of the Sister Cities of Tamale, Ghana. The Centre under Dr. Aukram's leadership has a great potential to link Africa to the State of Kentucky. The Heritage Centre is a point to show case African Culture to African Americans who will not get the opportunity to visit their origins in their lifetime.
