Saw Jan a few times. Extremely unprofessional talking about her marital problems during our sessions. She also "advised" my husband against him seeing another licensed therapist that used to work with her and cause many strains as a married couple to move forward in our therapeutic journey by defaming the character of another therapist for her own personal reasons. Very unprofessional and the first desk receptionist is rude.
NO!! No to couples counseling We were trying to come to an agreement on our divorce. This place counseled my husband to be silent. Jan counseled my husband alone on 2 out of 4 visits and possibly more. Jan did not ask me to talk privately, very unethical behavior. How can only one spouse give the full picture. If you are a Marine do not come here, they will do nothing for you.
I've been going to APS for years. They have a great office staff, the therapists I have seen have all been good. It took me a couple tries to find onei clicked with, that's very common. They do have an extensive intake packet so be prepared to talk her three time to fill it out. Most importantly you have to be honest and open otherwise no therapist or psychologist will be able to help you. Mental health is not fixed with a single visit or a few pills; you have to invest the time. Clean and welcoming office.
I really hope Alison sees this. its been years since my last session with her, and she's all I think about, I have half a mind to move back to the small town just so I can see her again. this woman changed my life, she absolutely saved me. I think about her often, the coping skills she taught me I use everyday. Alison you changed my life, I want nothing more than to see you again, you are the best therapist I have every had, you've taught me so much and I am so much better because of you.
