This insurance company honestly feels like a scam. After submitting nearly $5000 in claims and paying $600 in insurance premiums, I had maybe $400 approved. Every step of the way there were weird unpredictable loopholes that made all of my claims invalid. I have never experienced this with any other insurance company. I have a ton of health costs monthly and I am so discouraged that getting this insurance has resulted in money lost.
My father was an AFBS member for 50 years. He passed away and while they were initially responsive and helpful (Elizabeth is wonderful), once we began dealing with the Iqbal and the finance department it has been impossible. They still have not provided the tax forms they are legally obligated to provide and my father passed away 6 months ago. We will either have to file without them or face a huge penalty. Iqbal doesn’t return emails or phone calls. I am seriously considering legal action. Do not invest here.
An absolute sham of a company, that makes it as difficult as possible to receive coverage you have already paid for. As I can see from other reviewers on here as well, it’s clear they couldn’t care less about their members, even as a ‘fraternal benefit’. Shame on you AFBS

I can only provide what the doctor gives me. If they require specific wording or documentation, that should be communicated clearly upfront—not discovered ... read more
As an AFBS member and Actra member for years I can confirm that AFBS is a bunch of BS. Horrible insurance company. They don’t answer the phone. They don’t respond quickly. They are hard to get ahold of. Literally HORRIBLE system. This is a scam of a business. Highly don’t recommend as this is a horribly ran business.
AFBS has a 3.2 star rating with 41 reviews.
