Emergency Room I have personally been admitted to their ER 3 times in 34 years (2 previous times as a child, once as an adult). My wife and my son have also been treated in their ER and we have never had any faults with wait time nor treatment. In fact I would place their services on par with any other ER in the city and probably best on the North Side. Slow I went to the Emergency Room of this hospital twice when I was pregnant with my first. It took them over 1 hour to see me while I was heavily bleeding the 1st time, they took care of me for 3 hours and sent me home. The next weekend I was bleeding again, and the residence pronounced my "miscarriage", she said I was having the end of miscarrying process. Emergency service I was admitted to the emergency room for shoulder x-rays and treatment the day before Thanksgiving and they took care of me. My wait time was under an hour and they took care to make sure I was comfortable before leaving.
Abyssmal Unless you have a gunshot wound or are getting outpatient care in their oncology department, I would strongly recommend you pay the cab fare to go to Northwestern. My experience in the ER and subsequent unnecessary 72-hour hospitalization for a simple tibia break is inexcusable. The attitude, indifference, arrogance, refusal to return the nurses' pages, and incompetence of the MDs defies all of my previous experiences. Go else where for your emergency need. I was in the Emergency Room in this hospital one Friday Night and I have to agree with the previous poster that their Emergengy Room is really extremelly slow. What's the point of going to the ER if they cannot handle you within 1 hour. The ER at that time was not that busy, but the staff are just too slow. Maybe because the ER was full of residence with only 1 doctor on duty. I will not go back there for emergency.
