The pediatric developmental center did the evaluation in 2008 and diagnosed my child in 2009 with ASD; but didn’t do much else. The rest of the appointments were wasted time. He was never assigned speech and occupational therapy at the clinic. Never referred to a endocrinologist to check for hyperphagia or Prader-Willi syndrome knowing that he has serious PICA issues. And dare I say, they had a preference for prioritizing help for a higher number of white middle families.
Availability is part of the problem, i currently see a difference doc, same hospital chain and moved to area woulda loved a seamless transition. “Not accepting new patients” seems to be the rage nowadays.
