Awesome! Healthy choices and sizes options. Sweet potatoes are incredible but endanger you of leaving too full. Remember your checkbook or bring cash, no cards allowed.

San Antonio's Best Healthy Mexican Food – Adelante Mexican Food, 21 Brees Blvd., has THE BEST food ever. It is fresh, homemade, healthful, and yummy. I usually get a quesadilla combo. They are more like a taco, folded over, and with a handmade corn tortilla. I'll get the portabello, the tuna (real fish, not canned) and the pablano pepper quesadillas. They come with plenty of brown rice and beans. The Mexican Salad Bowl looked good too. Great teas too, hot or cold. I've taken many guests there, and it's always a hit. Colorful... read more

Great service, sweet potato fries and atmosphere but bland food – I do like a few things on the menu ,such as Sweet Potato Fries. But with all the great Tex-Mex food in San Antonio, such as Taco Taco and Taco Haven why choose this place? The atmosphere is lovely, though.

Some Stylin Cusine! This place is a fun and different twist on the traditional Mexican food, or even the Tex-Mex fare. For the most part it is known as a vegetarian joint- though in all honesty, I can't seem to recall if meat is on the menu at all. I like the potato tacos with the extra hot sauce. A little expensive, but worth it for a change in pace.

One of my favorites – Adelente is a welcome alternative to the ubiquitous generic Tex-Mex joints that dominate our SA food scene. Reasonably price plates are made from healthy, fresh ingredients, are always delicious and never leave me feeling overstuffed. It is the handmade tamales distinguish Adelente from all others. Fillings range from traditional to funky with a selection that changes frequently. Friendly wait staff - cute hippy chicks. Almost always one of the owners is on location and probably had a hand in preparing ... read more

Excellent Unique Food – I am vegetarian and look for low-fat, healthy food, and I hit the jackpot with Adelante. We were visiting from out-of-town and I found them on the web before we left. It was worth the research. The atmosphere was more casual than I expected, sort of a fun, bright, Mexico-meets-college-student thing going on. Patrons ranged from a group of 60-something women to some spikey-haired tatooed young folks. And pretty busy for a Tuesday evening. The food was great! Not just ordinary Tex-Mex made light, but wo... read more

Fantastic Food, but no Credit Cards! – San Antonio's selection of vegetarian food is not great, which is why I was pleasantly suprised to find this restaurant tucked off of New Braunfels. The selection is enormous, and the food is great (watch out for the jalapeños that come with the nachos, they are super hot!). Contrary to most mexican eateries around here the food is not greasy, and tastes fresh & healthy. Overall, Adelante is a refreshing escape from the 'normal' San Antonio cuisine. However, this restaurant does NOT acc... read more

Some food is good, some food is good for you; this place has both covered. – In Short Hand-painted lamps illuminate the booths, old Mexican movie posters hang on the walls and glowing neon creates a surreal landscape. Health-conscious professionals and self-conscious hipsters fill out the rest of the picture. While Adelante is known for its unique tamales, the chicken quesadilla plate is a worthy entree contender, as is the Southwest poblano enchilada platter. In both cases, the fillings are generous and well-seasoned.

Mexcellent! – This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio. I eat here whenever I am in town. Because the food is made with such healthful ingredients, I am not gassy after I eat it. Also, I can eat an entire meal without feeling like a bloated pig. The food is so fresh and carefully prepared that I when I dine here, I can be certain that no damage is being done to my central nervous system. Bon Apetit!
