In the olden days the dentists would not give anaesthesia before drilling & filling your teeth, or, alternatively, remove ALL of your teeth. Dental technology really wasn't a 'thing' back in the day. Apart from ill fitting dentures, the very thought of attending a dental surgery was fraught with fear and anxiety.
