If you or someone you love needs psychiatric treatment you will be MUCH better off finding another hospital. Abilene is limited in this type of care but it would be smarter to go to Hendrick and be on a 3 day psych hold and then go to somewhere outside of Abilene for in-patient psych treatment. My child was admitted due to a suicide attempt. The staff overall are unfriendly and uncommunicative. They do not return calls or update you. I have been to Acadia on more than one occasion. While it is certainly not perfect, it is what you make of it. The counselor Melissa is absolutely fantastic.
The above statements are very true. I know, I have been there. I wont EVER go back there again. EVER.
The communication is more than lacking, its practically nonexistent. I get more info from the secretary at visitation. I am a 34 yr old 194 pound woman on 80mg of Geodon, they have my 11yr old 100 lb something on 40mg. I will NEVER use their inpatient program AGAIN. EVER. also my son ended up with a new black eye, facial scratches and a bruised ear along the edge. dont tell me that was from being restrained and his fault.
