Laser hair removal results in less discoloration and scarring than ingrown hairs will, or irritation after shaving. Once you permanently reduce the number of hairs, most discoloration that was there previously goes away.

Did you know that next to Botox injections, laser hair removal is the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in the U.S.? In this treatment, beams of highly concentrated light penetrate the hair follicles, destroying the hair within.

Telangiectasia refers to visibly dilated blood vessels that appear on the skin's surface or within mucus membranes such as the eyeballs. They can develop anywhere but are most common on the face around the nose, cheeks, and chin, as well as on the legs.

Today’s new lasers work on all hair and skin types. While laser light does was typically most effective on dark melanin pigment (dark hair) and light skin, people with darker skin or lighter hair may now enjoy the benefits of laser hair removal with new lasers and a little more time or extra sessions.

You probably know hair density, texture, color, and behavior can vary somewhat based on ethnicity. Did you realize the process of greying also has an ethnic component? It's true. Caucasians tend to begin greying at least a decade earlier than most other ethnic groups.

I only have a few hairs on my face that concern me. Isn’t plucking them much easier than laser sessions? In the long term, those hairs will return over and over again. With laser hair removal, most or all will be permanently removed once laser hair treatments are finished.

What does permanent hair reduction mean? That is the term the FDA has approved for laser hair removal. While every hair targeted won’t be killed, laser treatments remove the majority of hair targeted and the small amount of hair that regrows is usually finer and lighter in color.

Did you know that scientists believe that hair removal may have started with prehistoric man? Sharp flint stones may have been used to remove facial hair to prevent the hair from being grabbed by predators or enemies.

You may never have heard of T. B. Fitzpatrick, but he’s a Harvard dermatologist who created a scale in 1975 to determine what type of laser is best for someone looking for laser hair removal, depending on skin tone and hair color. Fittingly, the scale is now known as the Fitzpatrick Scale.
