They changed the operation of a smoke alarm sensor I bought, and refuse to refund me for it. It shouldn't be legal to make your device useless with a change in policy or software. If they had simply given me a credit to the value of the device I no longer want, I would have been happy. But their customer service is horrible. Don't expect them to make you feel valued as a customer. I will be cancelling my service and selling my many devices, since at this point I feel completely ripped off.

Had an issue with a system I ordered where 2 sensors didn't work. Since it is security, I did not want to tinker on the system and hoped it worked, it needs to work and be reliable. I returned the unit after waiting a week for a return authorization and now have been waiting for over a business week after they received the items back for a refund with a answer of "we have contacted accounting, please be patient". I wish I knew about their lack of accreditation before purchasing their equipment and annual subscription plan. Purchased equipment in December ************************ January 2023 when I purchased my new home. My recent experience suggests that Abode should not be in the mission critical product business. Security systems are mission critical. On 11/23/22, I installed the 7.0 firmware upgrade to the Abode Iota Gateway. This disconnected the Gateway from WiFi and it would not reconnect. On 11/26/22, I contacted Abode support via email and phone. After nearly an hour, they could not get my Gateway reconnected, but promised to roll back the firmware and call me back in an hour. I've been an abode customer for 3 years and have spent hundreds of dollars on their equipment and services. One of the reasons why I loved them was their flexibility in plans and their availability of cellular connection. And I have paid for a pro plan for the last two years. Recently an abode representative contacted me and told me that I was using too much cellular service and must connect my device to the internet. I had been using Abode for the last 3 years or so and was generally satisfied and had no major issues arise with their service. When I went to live somewhere else I recommended using Abode given my satisfaction and the decent automation that came with the service. Unfortunately now I see what others have said about Abode, if you ever have an issue with their product be prepared to have a bad experience that may also cost you time and a chunk of change. Excellent system, the most affordable for what you get which is not just home security but also smart home integrations. Works with my Phillips Hue bulbs and my Echos and we frequently use the on-demand monitoring when we go away. I literally just go into the app and turn it on for 3 day weekends and they charge me $8. Super simple and no one else offers that. Worth the investment for sure.

I am a first time home security user and purchaser. I spent many weeks researching options, speaking with companies and talking to friends with systems. I am very glad we went with Abode. It works just as advertised and is very quick and easy to install. I like that I do not have to sign a contract or pay for monthly monitoring but can turn that feature on if needed for just the period I need. We added many different types of sensors to our system and everything functions real well. I highly recommend Abode.
