Our mom moved into Abbe Hall almost two years ago from another assisted living center that had closed their doors. She today calls this her home. Yes there are many different types of people living there for many different reasons. If not for Abbe Hall taking in these patients they would probably have no where to go but a long term nursing home. Our mom is always clean, fed and taken care of. Abbe Hall has always returned our calls and have worked with us regarding any concerns we may had. All of the staff is wonderful to ou... read more
I have been @ ABBE for a year and proud to be the Administrator. Presently our unique community ages range from 45 to 94 yrs old. We are "goal oriented" with focus of a "quality of life" that is "individually" planned with active participation from our residents, family and support systems. A true team approach!! I assure you the allegations I read in comments are taken VERY seriously in healthcare-I want you to know I investigated into the history-- to find them false!! . My advise to you is, when searching for a Personal C... read more
Recently, I heard about some negative comments posted online, regarding Abbe Hall. I went onsite to read them for myself. I was totally shocked, to say the least. The statements, that I read, are just the opposite of what I know and the experiences I and my family have had over the past few years. My aunt was a resident at Abbe Hall for almost three years, until her death at age 94. During her stay at Abbe Hall, I would visit her three or four times each week. I would spend the whole morning with her or I would come in at no... read more
Soon after putting our family member in Abbe Hall, he became in need of fully skilled care. The owner, who denied she owned the place, told us to get him out and refused to help us find a fully skilled care facility. They left him lay in his own feces and complained to us that he stinks. Many times we walked in and had to ask them to care for him or the laundry or the cleanliness of his room. They sent him to the hospital on more than one occasion for bed sores. The hospital filed a complaint against Abbe Hall for neglect. H... read more
This rating of 1 star is 1 too many. Verbal, mental, and physical abuse to my loved one. Hospital would not return my loved one to this residence because of physical abuse and multiple trauma to head and torso. Reported and filed with PCH Abuse in Scranton with photos. Family is heartbroken. No one deserves this. What is America coming to?
This facility mixes mentally ill with elderly. All of our family members personal items including clothing, belts, food, cigarettes (yes it's a smoking institution), ect. went missing. When you have concerns, Marianne, the administrater, doesn't return your phone calls. I went in yesterday, and cleaned the room myself. Dirty laundry lays in the basket on the chair, the floor is dirty, and the dust is thick. I asked for a light bulb for the lamp because there wasn't one in it, only to find the electrical outlet cover was off ... read more
