Finding out your child may have autism is disheartening in itself. When you are seeking help, the last thing you would want is someone on the other side of the phone being VERY insensitive. Carroll, the person who answered the phone, has no clue about my finances. I could only assume that my voice lead her to believe that I needed to know that I would not be able to pay out of pocket for testing since it was so expensive since we don’t have commercial insurance.
