The crane operator is only one part of the rigging and crane operation. The other part is the signal person. There's a whole list of specific regulations relating to the signals, and the signal person knows all of these to help the crane operator perfectly use their crane.

If the use of hauling equipment is not feasible, cranes equipped with a long boom and a dragline are the logical option if the material excavated can be placed near the operation. Because hauling equipment is not needed, project costs are reduced.
