Please everyone read this, First Management inc in Lawrence KS. has rob its tenants for so long... Their promotion about first 1/2 & 1 month free rent only good when you stay throught the lease. Otherwise, they will charge you back if you get out the lease early & on SUBLEASE which meant someone is taking over your lease, they will charge you full month no matter what day you move out then charge the new tenant the day they move in we both pay them then also make you pay back the free rent they had giving you also. Horrible experience. Don't expect to get your deposit back - regardless. Also don't expect any maintenance to be done, anyone to get back with you or anything having to do with respectable business practices. If you aren't sure, check out any site which has nothing but negative reviews and multiple complaints with the BBB.
Do not do it... – My fiance and I rented out an apartment in Manhattan with a friend. It was a four bed room apartment. When we went to look at them we were shown a model apartment and reassured that our apartment would have new carpet and fresh paint and would look quite similar to the one we had seen. PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM FIRST MANAGEMENT – My family and I moved into Parkway Townhomes 2 years ago this month, we have never been late on rent or caused any problems and hold a very clean household! I would say we are the ideal tenants. About 6 months ago I came out of my house and my car had been towed out of the parking lot, cost me $200 to get it out, for being a tenant, they said I did not have permission to park here, (remind you we had been here a year and a half now). Avoid First Management at all costs! – I had heard from, well, everyone that First Management had the worst reputation in town. Despite the warning signs, I lived in an apartment that they owned and it will end up being the worst year of my life having to deal with these people. "Management" is a loose term, more like minimum service and maximum effort put into screwing over the tenant. These people are slumlords. They buy run down properties, don't fix them up, and then people end up even getting hurt just by living in them... read more
Avoid First Management – First Management is horrible..avoid their properties at all costs. They treat their tennants bad and try to nickel and dime them for everything. I can't say i've ever heard one positive comment about them during my six years in lawrence. Save yourself the trouble..you will be happy you did!
