BJB is Amazing and the Property is Even Better I love my apartment. It is a typical city apartment, i.e. small. But the space is workable, the neighbors are great, and the building property management company is super helpful and timely. The only way I'm moving from this apartment is if I find a condo to buy!!
BJB The Elms Great location for the price. The fixtures could be nicer as many of the other BJB buildings in the area have been updated with stainless/granite. However, the new property manager has been responsive and made needed changes to the leasing office and landscaping. Maintenance is quick to fix any issues. All in all solid apartment in great area for a great price.
Location, location, location! My boyfriend and I have been living in a BJB apartment for almost a year now and its been fabulous. We are very easy going individuals and in order for us to work in Chicago we took a 400sq foot apartment for 975/month in Gold Coast so that we could work our part time jobs and save money. best place i loved my apartment ,it has a very big balcony which is good for my dog large living space, tons of closets
Small Rooms for Price Nothing bad particularly to say about this building. It's just a little too small of a studio to fit a normal lifestyle in. I could barley fit my full size bed in the room let alone have a dresser, desk and small dinner table. I think if you're going to be spending 1,000 a month for a studio you should definitely try and look at other places before settling here. The rooftop is great to entertain people on but it does close at 7:30 PM which is a little early for my tastes.
Perfect Studio I love my place. Everyone here from the security to the manager is awesome. Its the perfect teeny place in the best part of Chicago for my cat and me. Nothing but great things to say!
Poor Maintenance, Management and Unfair Billing Practices My experience with BJB started out ok, but ended up being a nightmare. Over the course of months, I had to place dozens of tickets for fixes around the place (as maintenance would regularly do poor work), I went without hot water in my kitchen for months, I went without a toilet that would work without having to flush it 3-4 times for months, I had a front door that would not lock regularly, screen doors that would nearly blow off the balcony, obnoxious neighbors that... read more
Great for the Young, Very Good for the Old Location - 5 stars. Near food, transit, and lots of entertainment. If you're a light sleeper this is not the area for you. Bldg has decent gym and rent incls everything but electricity. Neighbors are quiet but if you face the entry walkway and your windows are open, you will be subjected to loud conversations at all hours. If elevators bother you, avoid apartment 15 on any floor. 14 is next to freight elevator but that isn't used constantly.
So far so good. I just moved in a month ago, but my experience has been positive so far. When I first moved in, many of my appliances weren't working, but when I alerted management to the issue, they responded promptly and cheerfully. I was very pleased with their assistance and look forward to the rest of my stay there.
