Hands down one of the best restaurants in Rochester. Since the recent remodel I think it's one of the coolest looking also. Arrived with my date at around 7pm last Saturday evening and were seated promptly. We started with a couple cocktails from their cocktail menu, I had the Paradisi, my date had a Negroni. I liked mine, my date thought she had better. We both ordered starters which we shared. We had the calamari and the tomato and pesto pizza. The calamari was sauteed with greens and tomatoes. Really fantastic and such a ... read more
Good food, but expensive and noisy – I found the food very good, but the place was noisy and somewhat overpriced.
Highly overrated – Arriving with my date, we were seated promptly. It was early for dinner, so that was to be expected, however if we'd wanted a drink at the bar, that was an impossibility--too crowded. The din was almost unbearable and it never let up through our entire meal. I had a splitting headache when I left. We were crammed in between two entirely too-close tables. When they were filled with patrons, I felt that both of my neighbors' napkins were nearly inside my pockets. My date was dislodged several times with folk... read more
This place is really great – This is one of Rochesters best restaurants, hands down. There is really nothing like it, very unique menu, greatly prepared food, simple enough to be fantastic, yet interesting enough to be big city worthy. The kitchen is open for diners to see (in the main dining room), and there is seating in the bar although that is usually for those who enjoy a more "lively" environment as it can get more uptempo. I actually enjoy that when I am with girlfriends, but if your looking for a more romantic settin... read more
Noise level is the worse we have experienced. – This was the worse Sat night dining. Extremely noisy, no room at the bar. At the table you couldn't read the menu due to the poor lighting. You also couldnt carry on any conversation due to the level of noise throughout the restaurant. The food was good but not worth getting a headache for...
worst restaurant experience for the price – We had a reservation at 8pm on Saturday night but were not seated until after 9pm, and that was after approaching the hostess at 8:45 at which point she was rude and acted like I was bothering her. When we were finally seated, they were out of prime rib and the food was rushed and didn't taste that great. I called the owner and spoke with him, and he had the nerve to tell me I should have EXPECTED to wait over an hour with a late reservation on Saturday night. Then why even make a ... read more
Great place with big city feel – Visited here on the recomendation of friends. The food was fantastic, but our server was a little pre-occupied. Which is understandable since the place was wall to wall on a Tuesday night! Everything was right on time though. Our friends in Rochester told us that this was the most popular restaurant in town, and I can see why. Great food, great ambiance...best fish I have ever had anywhere.
DO NOT VISIT IF YOU ARE FROM OUT OF TOWN – Tonight we visited this restaurant. We ordered our food but it was delivered to the next table. When we asked why we were told by the server that the people at the table were "friends of he owner" and he had been asked to give them our order "complements of the owner". I called for the manager and he confirmed this, the owner was not prepared to explain to me why his friends were favored over paying covers. After 90 minutes the food arrived it was reasonable but not world class - wa... read more
Happening Place – A recent first visit to 2 Vine on a Saturday night was mixed. It seemed as if the entire population of Rochester was there, crammed around the bar. We had to wait 45 minutes for an 8pm reservation, and were starving and grumpy when we finally sat down. The food was wonderful, though, and the wine list interesting. Service was rather impersonal, but when we complained we were treated with courtesy and care...so perhaps the best thing to do is to dine at 2 Vine on weeknights, or early on weekends, for an opti... read more
