Our meals here were delicious, but the price for what we got felt a bit steep. I would probably go back, but there are other delicious places to eat in Newport.
We specifically chose this restaurant for its atmosphere and waterfront views. When a restaurant has plenty of empty tables but refuses a simple seating request because it would be inconvenient for the staff, that speaks volumes about its approach to hospitality. I have no interest in reviewing the food because, frankly, the experience was already ruined before we even ordered. The restaurant’s message makes the lack of acknowledgement even more frustrating because they explicitly said they would “keep your special occasion in mind” and “do our best to make it memorable.” I’d incorporate that directly: I got engaged earlier in the day before coming to 1639, and what should have been a memorable dinner following one of the happiest moments of our lives ended up being an incredibly disappointing experience.
