A horrible nightmare: leave your healthy dog at a kennel only to learn of its sudden, inexplicable death. This happened March 25, 2014 when my spaniel died while undergoing what should have been a routine procedure with Dr. Butler to clean his teeth of plaque. Research suggests only 1% of dogs under anesthesia die, usually ill or older dogs. My spaniel was not yet 8 and had only mild gingivitis. But his heart was stressed by 1 hour and 45 mins under and a tooth was pulled, which seems extreme. It’s too late for my best frien... read more
I also work here, so I cannot say much in the way of customer service, just to be fair. However, if you are interested in veterinary medicine, this is a gem to our neighborhood. I have worked in this field doing various things for 7 years now, and I have learned 90% of everything I know from Dr. Butler. She explains WHY we are performing certain procedures, and the physiological effects of medications. I often outsmart any other technician that I meet because she makes sure we know our stuff. I have three fancy rats, not rea... read more
I work here and i love this Place. We all treat each other like family. I have know Dr. Butler almost my whole entire life. She let me work with her last year and i am working again this year. I love how she treats the animals. She may be strict but it is for the best. She takes her job seriously and she will do anything for anyone and she has a great personality.
Dr. Butler is an excellent vet. We used to have a prominent vet in the upper west side; she used to be on the tv all the time. But after a fiasco, and an inflated bill for one of our dogs, we decided to give Dr. Butler a try. Yes, there is a wait to see her but once you are in her office she gives you her undivided attention and does not rush the process answering your questions. I like her practicality and no nonsense approach. One morning my French Bulldog showed signs of something seriously wrong with her; I was hysterica... read more
My last dog nearly died when a vet at here missed repeatedly the signs of a until she had a very serious kidney infection for which she had to be hospitalized for several days and nights and at a cost of about 4k. The ER vet confirmed that a simple round of antibiotics in the beginning would have remedied the situation. Dr. Butler requires more specialized knowledge.
The Worst – My aunt brought her cat in because she was having breathing problems. By the end of the visit Ashley (aunt's cat) had multiple medications, and still the same issue. The doctor claimed Ashley had a thyroid problem. So we started her on the medication like we were instructed, and not only did Ashley not get better, she stopped eating and moving all together. So 3 visits later and a two thousand dollar vet bill; we wanted a second opinion. Come to find out Ashley was misdiagnosed, and fed medications that only made... read more
I was taken advantage of – I went to this vet for one problem; I explained very clearly how much money I had to spend. The vet gave shots for things that could have waited and did not ask my permission. On top of the the diagnosis of fleas was not correct and what i needed immediate help with wasn't handled. The office is not clean - especially the exam room. The scale, for example is falling apart. The wait to see the vet was over 2 hrs past the time of appt and it was another 45 min just to get the bill. I was concerned ab... read more
Professional and kind – I have had a great experience at the 145th street Animal Hospital. I have a german shepard that is my best friend. Dr. Butler has taking extrodinary care of her since I first came to her five years ago. She is the only vet that I trust for diagnostics and checkups. She is honest and is serious about the health of my dog. She knows what she is doing. What a blessing!
Dr. Buttler passionate with animals – Dr. Butler is very attentive to all her 4 legged patients or those that crawl like pet snakes. I have reffered many pet owners to her and they are very satistied. She just upgraded her equipement. This makes it easier for diagnosis and surgery.
