HOA is poorly managed. Bikes and scooters stolen on multiple occasions. Can’t smoke on roof patio. Garbage shoot has broken multiple times in less than one year. Units have automatic lights that are not properly installed. Electrician couldn’t fix it after two visits. Lights and fan come on randomly. Footsteps audible/ poor insulation between floors. Not enough parking spaces. Renters not allowed to park. Can’t place any decorations on doors or even floor mats in a place costing 5k/month on average. Spend money elsewhere.
Buyers beware! Do not let them sell you on the 'warranty' they will just ignore your requests and drag things out as long as possible. The fixtures and cabinets are all cheap. They frequently take parts from all the vacant units so all the inventory that is left has been stripped down for parts. I've live in the building for nearly a year and the trash chute has been out of service nearly the entire time. I am a renter, so this is a management review. Pete and Jun currently oversee this property and address any and all of your concerns. When I surfaced a concern I had with my unit, not only did I receive swift responses but also the assistance was very apologetic and passionate. The property itself is exceptional, the noise is minimal given downtown and the community is very kind. Management and their willingness to assist can make or break a property. This place is definitely made with Pete and Jun!
I will give my honest assessment. Exercising your dog in the surrounding area means you have to carefully dodge syringes, foil used to smoke crack & heroin, broken glass, human feces, zombies, disposed food/chicken bones, etc. I have a puppy & these factors are incredibly hard to avoid for a curious pup. I will admit some of these issues are general SOMA/SF issues due to failed policies/politics but it is all relevant when making your decision. I’m a San Francisco native, born at the Kaiser on Geary. Writing this sounds silly but it is the truth. I’m living on my own for the first time and I found my community in SoMa. I was not expecting to find a place that felt like home by myself, but I did. When I’m on the rooftop, I feel like I’m in a protected oasis that makes me and my French Bulldog feel safe.
