I just got profiled for being black by a security guard named Mathew Hill. My wife and I came into the store while visiting Portland for her bday week. We walked through the store for the bakery because I wanted something sweet. We stopped at a few counters that were giving out free food and drink goodies. Zupans Maket One of several premier local food stores for the best in gourmet foods, but certainly not one of the best in price, you could do worse if you're in the market for that special cheese, wine, chocolate, bread, and the like. I should probably emphasize that it's not cheap, but there's no denying the quality here.
nice flowers, also Local grocery store up by 23rd St. on Burnside that offers a limited but adequate selection. Choose from their extensive wine selection, fresh cheeses or packaged beers. Wonderful deli! This Zupan's market in the Nob Hill area is small, but well stocked full of gorgeous flowers, unusual and fresh produce, and a gourmet deli with delcious food!
Anybody who has been at the Zupan's Markets in the last week 5/2/2020-5/9/2020 is at risk of contracting coronavirus, there was a confirmed case in the floral department SIX days ago which they are not announcing to the public. Employees working with this person were not instructed to self isolate and continue working. As you can imagine the week before mothers day there is no telling how many people may be exposed. I was absolutely HORRIFIED when I patronized your Burnside store yesterday (Sunday) to see how many employees were not wearing face masks. When I approached the produce supervisor with my concern, his response was, "Well, each employee can make that decision for themselves." I told him I would never shop there again. I'm a high-end caterer here in town and shop with you regularly. I've even served a dinner party to your owner. I posted my experience on my own FB page of 3,500 followers. Shameful.
RecommendedWe tried Zupans' pizza dough, a freebee with purchase, tonight. The combination of fig jam, goat cheese and prosciutto--Wow, it was outstanding.
