Recently called Pack Rat for long distance move. Was directed to Zippy Shell because I lived downtown and unable to have a container dropped off. Zippy Shell quoted a price to move items directly to a container which was housed in a truck, then transport to my destination and unload and move into new location. Zippy Shell charged an additional fee of $281 for storage, which was never required for my door-to-door service. Your things will probably arrive, but everything will likely have some form of damage. If you remember the Mario games, the cages that ZippyShell uses are essentially made of those spikey ball enemies 🦔. Ultimately I saved about 2 grand in my cross-country move, but if I were doing it again I would go with an actual moving company.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY My experience with Zippy Shell has been a complete nightmare from start to finish. They entered my information incorrectly on the very first phone call and still had the wrong address on pickup day. When my container arrived in New York, no one notified me. I had to repeatedly call to find out where my belongings were. Lamont was terrific the morning he delivered our storage unit. He let me know about his concerns getting it set properly in the space we’d predetermined. When I walked to the area and explained how I thought it might work, he confirmed he would try to get it off the truck and onto that spot. He didn’t just try to - he absolutely (literally) delivered, spot on! He’s such a nice person, and willing to talk things through. We’d definitely hire the company, again.
TERRIBLE SERVICE. No one knows what's going on with your personal items. No one calls to inform you of delays. You will be on hold forever to get no information then to be bounced around to there 3rd party companies to continue to be put on hold. We got to our destination before our items after they were a week and half late dropping off of the containers.. due to there ONE truck being out of service.
