Zephyr Cove changed our tour from lakeview tour to the backcountry tour a few weeks before the scheduled date but the weekend before the scheduled tour, Lake Tahoe received lots of snow and they never changed the location back. Also on the backcountry tour, the company doesn't maintain the trails so driving it was dangerous for everyone and half of the group that day didn't even make it to the top of the tour. We got our tour cut short due to the dangerous conditions and we even lost our tour guide for a bit. I don't recomme... read more
This tour company needs to groom trails and put effort into providing a good safe tour. They changed my tour from lake view to back country trail which is neglected bumpy and dangerous. GROOM the TRAILS- spend the money.
We were scheduled for the Lake View ride, but had to switch to the Hope Valley ride due to lack of snow. The rental gear was good. We flew in light and needed everything. Great experience, shuttle service was on time +/- 5min; check-in to get your gear was organized and set up well (you can rent snow gear there too if you need to; helmet is included already in price).Shuttle ride out to location is about 20min, once there, guides and staff are great (tip your guide if they do a good job, as we did with our guy Lee...great guide). Trails are well groomed, riding is easy and you will go at pace of your slowest rider, we did us 3 and that was our group; great, great time.
