I think HSOY is a great place. They give animals a second chance at life. I adopted a half boxer/half pitbull from there and she is now part of the family. I read many bad reviews from here. Before I got Jezebel I had adopted a 10 month old pitbull from there. We got her from the kennel area and they said she had great tempermant and no problems. Well I took her home and as soon as we got home she wanted to rip my other dogs in half. So that dog did not last more than 15 minutes at our house before we decided that it was the... read more

I had two 20lbs bags of food that my puppy didnt like so I called to ask them if I could donate the food even though one of the bags was opened and the lady who answered was very rude had me on hold for over 10 minutes and then told me that I would have to call back some other day, and when I asked her for directions there she answered even more rude than before, at the end of the call she just hung up on me before I had the chance to ask other questions I had. The service was very poor and rude.

My husband and I adopted a great pit bull from the Yuma Humane Society. We have had her for about 3 1/2 years. She is our child. The only problem we had with the Humane Society was the process to get her fixed. They butchered the poor dog and she had a 6 inch cut on her belly that ended up getting infected. We ended up have to take her to a "real" vet to have everything looked at. The dogs there are great but be careful and take them to a different vet to get them fixed.
We adopted a dog there and love her. They have been very helpful. However, watch out, as they spay the puppies far too young and this can cause future health issues and growth stunting.
Yuma County Humane Society has a 4.4 star rating with 1,167 reviews.
