It’s been sometime since my husband and I visited in October but I had to sit with it before writing my review. When I called to make the reservation, Barbara had asked if we had any food allergies for breakfast. I said I had a gluten and dairy allergy. We were welcomed warmly when we arrived but on the two mornings we were served breakfast we were served items I couldn’t eat. I chalked it up to older generations just not understanding. This place is special, it's like another reviewer said, it's not just a place to stay its a destination. We came for the covered bridge festival and I found that that part of my trip was not as good as just walking the property, having breakfast with Alan and Barbara, and honestly unplugging. Their combined artistic presence and knowledge make this place truley special. If you want to unplug look and historic buildings and their currated art. This place is for you. I sure hope to be welcomed back soon.
I consider it a privilege that I was able to stay here. Best hosts, ever. Historical property decorated with antiques and personal art collections. A breakfast worth sitting at for hours and piano recitals that will leave you speechless. Sugar Creek frogs, and mushroom hunting with rabbits and deer. Could easily spend weeks just browsing the books. This is a destination, not just a place to stay. It is lodging from an era when the journey and the people in it were more important than simply the destination or the time saved.
Quaint little place. Owners are fantastic. Breakfast was unique and excellent.
