Dr Birku is a great doctor. His assistant named Jennifer is great too. However, the front office manager named Melissa is quite rude and its puzzling how she became that way as she wasn't when I first met her. Maybe she needs a vacation or retirement. She has absolutely no customer service skills at all. She has constantly told me for several months that Sentara isn't contracted with my insurance carrier. I went to see Dr Birku hoping for relief with mouth thrush. He had no compassion to what me or my son have been dealing with for the past 5 weeks. Basically said he could not help us. Doctors practice medicine. Every patient is different. I pleaded with the man to help us because my son will be going to college soon. He said they have good doctors at college. I don’t understand why you wait so long to see a specialist and get no help when they specialize in this field. God pray for our doctors.
Dr. BIRKU is compassionate, kind and listens to my husbands and my concerns. He has seen my husband daily been a blessing during his hospital stay.
