Highly ethical business practice ! After leaving YAYLA with 3 Kilims they let me take home for a few days so I could see them in my own environment, I suddenly got worried about the sordid "Child Labor" issue too often associated with carpets from that part of the world. All I can say to John O. (whose 2009 review can be read below) is please check out the BARAKAT link : http://barakatworld.org/Barakat-Staff/Christopher-K-Walter.html?catid=125 As much as I loved it, I was ready to return my rug if I felt it had been made by ... read more

Please check Yayla activities besides their business There are people who says good things and bad thing about others. If any of you have a doubt about anybody or Chris Walter in this case. You should go to Yayla Tribal Rugs and check yourselves. Don't rely on Barry. Neither he is an expert on rugs nor he is critics in rug industry. Rug business is not been easy and it is getting tougher every year. There are so many so call dealers who are kind of Big Fish, take rugs on consignments from the wholesalers like Yayla, and othe... read more

Yayla Tribal Rugs uses CHILD LABOR Yayla Tribal Rugs uses CHILD LABOR. I would not even consider a rug from Yayla. See: http://www.spongobongo.com/New/Rug_Notes/Yayla_Child_Labor.htm Barry writes: After repeated call I kept missing Chris Walter so today (3:45 PM 10/23/06) I got lucky and got Harry Glassie on the phone. Harry a longtime associate of Chris Walter is also the son of Henry Glassie.

Great find for tribal rugs! If you want a fancy showroom in a fancy neighborhood, this is not the place for you. If you are discriminating on style, quality and reasonable prices and are willing to shop in a "showroom" that is way less than perfect to check out exceptional rugs and enjoy expert and cheerful help then this is the place for you. Not only are the rugs offered at below average market prices but much of Yayla's profit goes back to help the people in the communities where these are made. Find a great rug and help ... read more
