When I moved to the Pioneer Valley to attend Hampshire College in South Amherst back in the Fall of 1993, I was REALLY dismayed to discover that I wasn't permitted to join either the Amherst College or UMass Amherst Rowing (and was gender-ineligible for the Smith & Mount Holyoke Teams obviously 🤣) Teams as a Five-College student, since I'd intended to row with either Team as a Hampshire student.
