I ordered the eggplant salty fish and chicken clay pot. The taste was ok. Too much ginger. The fermented black soy beans didn’t taste right in the dish. The color was off as well (grey instead of a dark brown color), and pretty oily. I’d give this dish a 3.5 for taste and 2 for authenticity. The dish didn’t seem to actually have been cooked in a clay pot. Seems like a short cut using cornstarch was used.
Our go-to when heading up to Tahoe, Davis etc. Food always hits the spot and the servers are beyond nice! Watch out, though, because we ALWAYS end up ordering too much… everything just looks so good! Very much recommend!!
I was genuinely excited to drop in today and see what the new restaurant occupying this location is all about. Right from the start, the frontline staff provided good, welcoming service. My only critique of the atmosphere is the spatial arrangement of the dining room. There is absolutely no physical or visual break between the tables. I’ve always loved the food at Yang Kee Dumpling, but this visit made me appreciate them even more because of their incredible service. We originally stopped by to pick up more of their delicious chili oil because we were running low, but decided to stay and eat. I wasn’t sure if they would be able to seat us since we had our puppy in a carrier.
