The tour is interesting. Our tour guide was a very young individual. Very hard to hear his voice as he constantly looked down speaking to the floor. He certainly was unaware of many features of the old pen. I think it's over priced for what you get to see.
It was so much more than I expected. We opted for the 1 hour guided tour, two “senior” tickets were $12.00 each and definitely worth it. Our guide was Brooke and she was amazing. So informative and engaging. We learned so mush about the prison, interesting prisoners and the invention of the gallows. It is creepy, intriguing and interesting all at the same time. We saw all three cell blocks, library, kitchen, mess hall, death row, gas chamber, gallows, the “yard”and prisoner artwork. Definitely worth the visit!
Great tour. Very interesting. Very similar to Alcatraz, but without the island in the ferry ride. Tours are on a schedule so check the times before arriving.
Great prison tour. If you have an interest in the macabre, you'll enjoy the gallows and gas chamber!
