Surprised I am a professional violinist in Los Angeles. Recently, I was in Houston and needed to find a violin shop to work on my fiddle. I went to Mr. Wu by recommendation from the former concertmaster of Dallas Symphony. Mr. Wu is a prize winner of major internation violin making competition, and I find his work on my instrument representative of that honor. I am really surprised that there is someone like that kind quality in Houston.
really happy about it I had to adjust my sound post and get a new bridge, was recommended to Mr. Wu's at Sugar Land. He did a really great job on it, my teacher said that the sound of the violin was better than ever before. The service was fast and the price was also cheaper than getting these things done in Houston.
so-so i got my violin repaired there once. wu replaced a soundpost for me; the price was about average for violin repairs. the sound was okay after the repair, not quite what i had hoped... when i tried to tell him what i wanted my violin to sound like, he wouldn't listen to my recommendations, and would simply push on with his own ideas! besides the basics, wu and his wife sounded rather antagonistic - not at all friendly service. overall, i'd recommend going to another violin shop for more friendly and considerate service.
