After 4 years of "sub optimal" care for my blood cancer at the north wales cancer center (aka glan clueless) I was finally able to manipulate a referral to Maelor. Despite still being in the bcu death board area, Maelor is close enough to the english boarder to not suffer from the dire consequences of being in the heart of the north wales health care gazza strip. I live in Caerphilly but in May I was in Wrexham for a week with my husband. On the second day of our stay I had a fall and broke my hip. I cannot speak highly enough of the care I received at the hospital. I did have to sit up all night in A & E but I had two lots of xrays during that time and once they had established that my hip was broken it wasn't long before they found me a bed. my accident happened on the Tuesday evening and I had a full hip replacement operation on the Friday.
