Undoubtedly the best air tour I've taken. Of course, Wrangell St. Elias just might be one of the most scenic places in the world. We took the 120 minute tour and can not recommend it enough. The tour heads south, crossing into the Bagley Icefield, to Icy Bay, and wraps up at a pass by Mt St Elias with some of the best views anyone could hope for. The pilot taught us a bit of the region's unique glaciology, history of the region, and past mountain climbers. Well worth every dollar and minute!
For a national park as vast as Wrangell-St. Elias, flightseeing is the best way to appreciate the full beauty of it. We took the 90-min fightseeing with Wrangell Mountain Air and it was an unforgettable experience. The sighting of Bagley Icefield could be described as jaw-dropping and awe-inspiring. The snow-covered mountains looked surreal while right in front of our eyes. The sapphire-colored pools decorated the ice as jewels on the crown. I interacted with upwards of a dozen staff members over the course of three flights (both pilots and operational staff) and literally everyone was friendly, helpful, and professional. They instilled complete confidence in the operation; it’s clearly a well-run outfit. You’re in good hands.
We did the 2 hour tour and covered the Bagley icefield, st Elias peak, University peak, the icefall stairway and much more. The views of Mount Logan were awesome. Viewing a glacier from above 3000 ft gives a diff perspective than from a few 100 feet beside the mountain or walking on it. Brian our pilot was really knowledgeable and kept us entertained...we had never known in a bush plane before and the flight was really smooth...as Brian said ...it's like a butterfly flying through the air.
Super vriendelijke mensen die je voor een fatsoenlijk bedrag een geweldige vlucht over de Wrangell Mountains bieden. De vlucht is echt een must om de vele gletsjers te bewonderen! Pas na deze vlucht besef je de enorme omvang van dit gebied.
