Massively overrated. Untidy, rundown, shabby, dirty, and full of drunks and beggars. I can say I've "been", but I won't go back. Broadway in Nashville is so much better than this place.
Beale Street doesn't compare to Nashville; there is hardly anything going on during the week. There are a lot of homeless people—not that I’m criticizing them, but it gives the city a sad atmosphere. I think one night in Memphis is plenty, unless you also want to visit Graceland. You can visit Elvis's grave there for free between 7:30 and 8:30. Elvis was the only highlight of Memphis.
It's changed from year's ago. More security and not as much fun or entertaining.
