We were on a trip in Winthrop for the weekend and Jesse kindly agreed to meet us on a day the office was closed. He gave us a full rundown of the yurt building process, a tour of the manufacturing area, and answered any and all of our questions. He was there to educate us on their business and what they offer. After looking at all kinds if options, I bought the 25' model. Two guys with some, but not much, construction experience stood it up on ICF forms with a non- crete gravel+insulation+T&G ply floor. Put a storage loft in half of it. Material quality & engineering on rafters, windows, and walls was very good. Customer support was outstanding. I may buy a 20 foot model later. I opted not to get the cedar exterior and will stucco. Good people & a sustainable, well done & innovative take on an ancient idea.

If you are thinking of building a yurt, I would highly recommend Smiling Woods Yurt. Our decision to go with them was based on several factors. - we wanted a permanent structure, one make of wood that would last. The cloth yurts out there, as I understand, only last 25 years at best. Construction is good quality and very solid. - we wanted a kit to make assembly easier.
