If you see the gougères, grab one! It's a savory eggy puff pastry with a good dose of black pepper. I'm not sure what cheese is in it because it is subtle. They make some especially fine chocolate bars where the specialty is single origin flavors. Perfect for a chocolate enthusiast who wants to taste pure chocolate from different countries. A little bit expensive If you prefer ordinary chocolate. Today I tried the Tanzania and the Peru chocolate. Super interesting and bold and complex.

I wanted to let the owners know how significant May May is to Woodblock. I had never been in and her wonderful, motivated, and clearly effort driven customer service has made me repeatedly come back as my new local spot. She is truly valuable to Woodblock and you should give her a raise and do everything you can to keep her. I have met friendly baristas before but never ones that are outwardly thoughtful about their work and have intimate knowledge with the food and drinks for sale.

I come from Canada, where I lived in the French province and also had the chance to visit France a few times. Over the years, I’ve tried to find shops that make their own chocolate, but honestly, it’s not an easy art, and many times I’ve left a bit disappointed. I rarely order scones because they tend to be disappointing. Not here. There were warm. Had a fantastic texture. I’d say the best I’ve had in portland - by far. I also had their cinnamon rolls- pretty dang good! Great coffee, real Housemade baked goods and a very nice atmosphere.
