Still struggling with birth trauma from RPA 10 months later. Not even going to delve into the nitty gritty as it would be a short novel, but it was awful and I'm so sad and angry still. Extremely disappointed. Ladies -- GO ELSEWHERE
Later this morning I pop in at the MATERNITY WARD for a concern I had. All the staff, including the receptionists, nurses, midwives and the gynaecologist were absolutely fabulous with me! They looked after me in an exceptional way, performing some tests and sending me for an ultrasound to check if my baby and I were ok. I could lie down on a bed in the meantime I was waiting for the checkups and I felt comfortable and safe. First time mum and delivery was a nightmare for me here. Problems encountered: 1. PPH due to high level of oxytocin/cervidol given for inducing pain. Despite of low hb before delivery I was advised high level of oxytocin after cervidol( another pain inducing medicine) caused 7 false contractions in 10 min for 8-10hrs. I was in immense labour pain without any dilation. 2. Wrong dilation measurement by midwife. Words cannot express how grateful I am for the amazing midwives at RPA. I gave birth here recently and the quality of care was exemplary. Every midwife in both the delivery ward and post natal ward was kind, supportive and knowledgeable. I only wish that I had my precious children at RPA (instead of in the private system). The best hospital in Sydney to birth in!
