Noisy, lively and fun, this big sister to the original restaurant on Grand Avenue is an attractive diner. Experience its floor to ceiling windows, lots of seating, a bustling bar and counter service. Corn muffins arrive at your table as soon as you sit down. The wide-ranging menu, with its decidedly southern emphasis, features crab cakes, Hoppin' John, blackened chicken, ham on-the-bone and a number of daily specials. The dessert menu is anchored by Key Lime Pie, of "best in the city" fame. Breakfast and Sunday brunch are al... read more

The worst! – Wishbone is awful. We always have problems when we come here. The menu is bland and mediocre across the board. The dishes usually come cold and our orders are always mixed up or missing something. I'm writing this after just opening our take out bag and seeing that they messed up two of four entrees and completely forgot to give us our fifth. The only reason we still frequent this dump is because my wife has an illogical emotional attachment to it because it was one of the first places she ate at when she first ... read more
Nice, but.... – Every time I leave this nice restaurant, I'm disapointed. Today it was for breakfast and I found the 2 egg white omlette with spinach and chesse to be extermely dry and tasteless. The potatoes which came with the dish were also dry, dry, dry. The only item that was normal was the wheat toast. I had to flag down our wait person-- and it wasn't at all busy-- for a check after waiting for more than 15 minutes while my friend and I sat there. She wasn't a nice nor friendly person; she seemed to be frantic. Why? w... read more
Eat your heart out, San Francisco! – We"ve loved this place (on Washington) since it first opened.... breakfast, lunch and dinner are all great. I can't even begin to pick out a favorite dish, but the veggie burgers are so good I eat them even though I'm not a vegetarian; I don't think we've ever had anything that we didn't like a lot. We've moved to San Francisco, but never visit Chicago without heading for the Wishbone. Great service, great crowd, great food.
I LOVE the food here. Always bring out-of-towners here to eat some comfort food. Yummy and reminds me of home – I have never had a bad experience here (or the location on Lincoln). The black bean cakes, shrimp & grits, crunchy french toast...it's all wonderful. The martini's are yummy too (can't find them on the online menu but I'm pretty sure we had some there...they do have a liquor license). If you are looking for a home-cooked meal, look no further. The only draw-back is their hours. Now that they are in the midst of a h... read more
Overrated – "southern-style" maybe if they're trying to copy a pretty ordinary restaurant serving bland food in the south. no major complaints about the place, the food just really isn't very good. would not go back, too many places in the city worth going to.
Fantastic Brunch Spot – I was looking for a place to take my friend for breakfast when he came up from U of Illinois. Since he was downtown, I couldn't take him to the lucky platter in evanston, which is also a very nice breakfast spot. So, through a RAINSTORM, we found the oasis that is Wishbone. I have eaten a lot of breakfasts and brunches. This is one of the best ones that I've had since I have left college (I was spoiled by a good breakfast spot). All of us were thoroughly satisfied with the meal that we had. I had the ... read more
Funky West Loop restaurant serves Southern-style cooking with an urban sensibility. – In Short All windows and exposed ductwork, this cavernous space is adorned with oversized vegetable- and chicken-and-egg-themed paintings. A casual crowd of loft dwellers gather for down-home breakfast fare: Fresh-squeezed orange juice and fruit smoothies; salmon cakes with hollandaise sauce; and the celebrated Red Eggs, a piquant mess of two eggs on corn tortillas with black beans, cheese, ancho chili sauce, sour cream and salsa. No worries – My wife and I came across this restaurant shortly after moving to Chicago, and after being here for 6 months, it has become a weekly staple for us! There is just no bad meal here! Breakfast, outstanding! Lunch, outstanding! Dinner, outstanding! Service is great as well. And the best part, you can find cheap parking (meters, not lots) within a block at just about anytime. Its a must stop in my opinion!
The Best Brunch – This is by far one of the best comfort food southern cuisine treats in the city of Chicago. I have been dinning at the Wishbone for over 7 years and it is by far one of my favorite places to eat. The food especially the crawfish cakes are delightful. The price is right and the portions are hearty, it is one of Chicago's best. However ther can be a wait and the Washington street location is very loud.
