After having considerable trouble finding a place where my parents could be together in an assisted living facility, I found Savoy Place. Danielle and Amanda went above and beyond to make it happen. With my father having late stage dementia, and my mother having physical challenges and no mental issues, many facilities would not take both and allow them to be together. Had a relative that passed away 8 weeks ago. Have yet to receive the balance of her room rent. Anthem had been contacted 2 times and said it would be sent out soon. Tried calling today, but no answer at corporate office. Beware that when a loved one passes away, you will not be reimbursed for the 7 days after the room is empty. I think they hope that the family will forget about the reimbursement that is well overdue.

Dementia/Alzheimer's is hard. It's hard to watch a loved one who was once vibrant and full of life as you knew them, deteriorate into someone who is somewhat no longer recognizable. And one can only imagine what it must be like to be trapped and held hostage in a Dementia/Alzheimer's riddled mind. My mom died on Mother's Day this year at Savoy Place after living the last two years of her life there. My mother passed away last week at the age of 97 after being at this facility for 2 years. This was by far the best place in Champaign-Urbana that she was at. The staff was caring and attentive, particularly Regina but all of them. The food was great. Mother was always clean and nicely dressed, and they treated her so well. She was never neglected or ignored. The admin was responsive to our needs and there was great communication with them. Thank you for this and for caring for her so well.
