Dr. Whitney has been my primary care physician for almost three decades and I have a high regard for him as a medical doctor and as a person. He’s attentive, very knowledgeable, and a nice person to do business with. Further, the staff at Carilion Family Medicine are always friendly and helpful.

Rude, narcissistic and down right mean! The practice switched me to Whitney when my doctor moved. As I didn't go to the doctor often I would call and get an appointment when Whitney wasn't there. Finally, they told me I HAD to see Whitney and could not switch to another doctor. I saw him twice and then changed to a different practice., That is how horrid this man is!

If I could give no stars I would! He is arrogent, rude and does not listen to his patients. I asked to be changed ti another doctor in his practice and they would not switch me, so I had to leave. DO NOT GO TO WHITNEY!

I write this to warn others that I personally witnessed Dr. Whitney treating. a longtime patient with impatience, boredom and disinterest. During the two visits, he never looked at his patient but rather sat down immediately at the computer after a mumbled greeting. He never looked up as he was asking medical questions but rather stayed focused on his screen and pecked away. When his patient expressed continued discomfort, he shrugged and provided no solution, I was horrified.

Please find another doctor. He mis-diagnosed me and I was sick much longer than necessary because of him! My patient advocate pleaded with him to help me, she even cried because I was in so much pain. He did not care at all and he said there was nothing he could do! I found a new doctor the next day and within the first visit she helped me. He is a disgrace to the word "doctor!"!

Dr. William Whitney treats both my Mom and me. My Mom is 87 and he is very kind and patient with her. She is in early stages of Dementia and repeats herself a lot but he listens as long as he can and keeps a very pleasant look on his face. She loves that he is so sweet to her. I'm 63 and had not had a family care physician since mine moved to Lynchburg two years prior to seeing Dr. Whitney. I liked how through he was with me, I felt comfortable and confident that I was receiving the best of care

He is aloof and not very knowable. Only wants Paris with colds that don't sneeze or cough. If you are sick find a real doctor who has knowledge and cares. I was genuinely surprised to find this caliber of physician working for carillon. So much for reputation.
