I have been getting Colonoscopies since I was 30 due to family history. Worst one I had was with Dr. Schirmer. Not enough sedation and very unprofessional at bed side!
Dr. Schirmer did not give me enough medicine before my colonoscopy. I was awake, remember every second from the very start to when this very painful procedure was finally over. He didn’t talk to me, or seem to care I was in pain. He ignored me when I said to stop. He later told me my colon is very twisted due to adhesions and he almost stopped. So, why did he continue? I do not recommend going to Dr. Schirmer, a local general surgeon, for a colonoscopy. Go to a Gastroenterologist who knows what they’re doing.
Had my first colonoscopy with Dr Schirmer at Grady. He did not use nearly enough sedation during the procedure. Does not communicate well either with very poor bedside presence.
Going to the Doctor is never good but he has always made me feel better. He explains complicated medical stuff in a way that even I can understand.
