I am only reviewing the CommonSpirit app. I miss the V.M. former patient portal big time! Why? To start, when I send a message to a doc or anyone else, I can then see the "sent" messages and I can tell when someone views/reads my message. So I would know that it is bring "dealt with" in some way. No can do on the Common Spirit portal. And who came up with the name "Common Spirit?" Ugh!!! Why didn't they join "My Chart" like so many other Healthcare establishments?? Stoopid!

I have been a Virginia Mason patient for over 20 years, and their billing department has consistently provided a 10% courtesy discount when I pay my balance in full. When I recently attempted to pay my bill through CommonSpirit, they declined to honor this discount. After a long hold, I requested to speak with a supervisor and was told I would receive a call before the end of the day, but I never heard back. I later confirmed directly with Virginia Mason that CommonSpirit should have applied the 10% courtesy discount.

The Surgeon and his staff were remarkable, caring, communicative professionals. The hospital post-surgical staff were inconsistent. Experienced nurses were attentive, knowledgeable, and outgoing. The inexperienced staff, which seemed to be the majority, were curt, confused and lacking the ability to answer even some basic questions. I would give Dr Siminau and his staff 5-stars. I would give the hospital staff 3-stars.
