One of the best things you can do living in Springfield is joining the Williamalane. You get access to so many outstanding facilities , everyone who works here is so very kind. Its like a 2nd home .
I volunteer here once a week as a host of the rock shop. I help people polish, cut, and work with stonesnsuch as geodes, jasper, agate, obsidian... or whatever they bring in. We have slab saws up to 24" and can cut stuff for about $6 a slab. Think that stone you find might be a thunderegg? Let us slice it open for you. Right now, I'm making a cabochon out of a chunk of common opal. Fun times.
