Carl is the man the myth and the legend. His knowledge and professionalism exceeds expectations, you learn and apply knowledge far beyond just memorization and hypotheticals. With years of his own experience carl is able to give new context to traditional urban first aid. Improvisation is often the name of the game in the back country and carl can improvise with the best of them. Always a joy to be in beautiful Elizabeth Colorado with great people. I highly recommend.

Carl expects a lot from each of his students, it is evident in the way that he teaches, and his expectations of instructors. This is due to over 50 years in Wilderness Medicine, and he has seen and knows what true help this knowledge in in this area can truly make a difference, I highly recommend checking WMO out for a wide breadth and extensive wilderness knowledge!

I have taken 5 classes at Wilderness Medicine Outfitters; the Wilderness First Aid Class, the Wilderness First Responders class and the Advanced Wilderness Life Support class and would highly recommend them to anyone who wants in-depth knowledge and learn wilderness skills. No, they are not "sign up and get you a patch" courses. You have to really study and be able to apply what you have learned under pressure. (OK, its a lot fun too). HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking any class you can with Carl. A gifted and highly knowledgeable teacher. Any skills learned in his classes are useful for the rest of your life.
