This was one of the most disappointing and uncomfortable clinical rotations I have experienced as a medical student. I have been struggling with various health issues for years. No other physician would offer me what I needed due to age and other circumstances. Dr. Alston immediately saw what was wrong and we went down the right path. She made me comfortable for surgery and had excellent bedside manner. Not to mention she tolerates my sense of humor. If fibroids are your issue you should find another doctor. For almost 2 years this doctor told me that my 4.5 cm fibroid (found on ultrasound) could not cause the symptoms I was having (pain and weakness in my legs so severe I had to use wheelchairs and walkers, constant urination and leaking, horrible back, pelvic pressure and pain). My iron was never tested only my hemoglobin which was normal but I later found out my iron was so low I was put on high dose supplements immediately.
