WARNING TO OTHERS!! I’ve never written a bad review but posting this as a warning to others as this is the worst mechanic I’ve been to and have spoken to others with similar experiences. A few months ago I took my car here for a WOF and ended up needing work done on it to pass. I meant to review this place ages ago. Tried to pull a greaseball move and charge me $850 for a fan belt a few years back. Thought I was a tourist and and a friend who knew him even called him out for me. He even tried to charge me $600 just to put the old part back on. Don't let this guy take advantage and just hold your guns and if you have to get a tow to literally any other shop in town. We had an issue with our coolant and called them for help. They immediately gave us a helpful phone diagnosis and told us what to do until we could get to their workshop. They offered us an appointment on very short notice, and the next day our radiator was replaced quickly and efficiently. Thanks to them, we didn’t have to cancel our trip to Cape Reinga (a long distance for the car). Very nice and reliable people with a great sense of humor. Highly recommended!
The team were able to look at my brake issue, provide a diagnosis and put a fix in place quickly. I appreciate the kind and clear explanation, and the flexibility to see me quickly when I was visiting on holiday. Thank you!
I cannot recommend Whitianga automotive highly enough. They were highly capable, professional, responsive and went above and beyond. I called them with an emergency with my camper. They made time, diagnosed the issue immediately and provided great advice on next steps. Really amazing to deal with. A1 service and would come back here as my first choice in the Coromandel.
