We were in Somers, Montana, for a destination wedding, and a group of us decided to spend part of the day at Whitefish Mountain Resort to experience the Alpine Slides. It turned out to be a great adventure! We parked at the Base Lodge, where you can purchase tickets for the resort's various summer activities. The snow was incredible. The lodge was clean and organized and the food was healthy and great tasting. There was a coffee shop and a separate station for drinks and beers on tap. The Olympics were playing on the big screen while they also had live music. The freestyle park was very small, but well-maintained and balanced, I was expecting a little more there. Today was a new experience for me up at Whitefish Mountain resort. I was a chaperone for my daughters 2nd grade snowshoeing field trip - and it did not disappoint! Despite the lack of snowfall this year, the trip was guided by a very bright, young park ranger with the National Forest Service. She was amazing with the kids and taught them an incredible amount about nature and wildlife. Her visuals included animal hides, skulls, animal scat and more. Awesome! What a great place! For our 1st time skiing this was fantastic! They have everything you need for one, so if you do forget something, no worries! Long read, but worth it! We took lessons, I highly recommend this if you have never skied. They were so important to us enjoying this when we went out on our own. The lessons teach you the basics and the overall run of the place so you don’t feel like so lost. We rented gear, except helmets, we picked up some fairly good ones on Amazon. It was a beautiful scenic ride but it was cloudy that day so our pictures didn't turn out quite as well as we wished. Definitely worth the time and money
