We were in Somers, Montana, for a destination wedding, and a group of us decided to spend part of the day at Whitefish Mountain Resort to experience the Alpine Slides. It turned out to be a great adventure! We parked at the Base Lodge, where you can purchase tickets for the resort's various summer activities. Absolutely ridiculous experience at Whitefish Mountain Resort’s gondola. They put you inside a closed gondola with NO AC on a warm day. What the hell is the point? You can open a tiny little window, but that does absolutely nothing. You just sit inside sweating and roasting the entire ride. And if you’re thinking, “Oh, it’s just a few minutes, how bad can it be?” Think again. It takes approximately 20 minutes to get from the base to the top. Beautiful views!! We saw a mama black bear and her cubs. We also saw a deer. We watched the hikers and bicyclists going down the mountain. We go in summer for the views and snowboarding in the winter.

Fantastic mountain with a ton of terrain at great prices. This is the third winter in a row we have gone for a trip and it never disappoints. The lodge has decent food at good prices for a mountain. And the lift ticket prices can't be beat. Make sure to order in advance online for discounted lift tickets. The SNOW bus will bring you from town right to the mountain and the bar Screwball Hot Chocolates are a perfect end to the afternoon. For your money, there may not be a better mountain in the US.

Today was a new experience for me up at Whitefish Mountain resort. I was a chaperone for my daughters 2nd grade snowshoeing field trip - and it did not disappoint! Despite the lack of snowfall this year, the trip was guided by a very bright, young park ranger with the National Forest Service. She was amazing with the kids and taught them an incredible amount about nature and wildlife. Her visuals included animal hides, skulls, animal scat and more.
